At the Zoo 2019: Burgers’ Zoo

The reason to go to Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem last year was a very very VERY special one. You must know Burgers’ Zoo is a zoo who has these beautiful walk-through habitats, made to look like a typical biotope. Like, there is Burgers’ Bush which is like a Rainforest, and there is the Ocean which is, well it in the name right, all about aquariums filled with tropical fish. Also there is the Desert and the Mangrove. In these themed enclosures live animals you could find in the wild in the same environment. Cool huh! Well… however me love to visit every part of Burgers’ Zoo, last year we mostly focused on the Mangrove because someone really special can be admired there! (pictures by Berry de Nijs)

At the Zoo 2019: DierenPark Amersfoort

Because me is having fun thinking about all the adventures me had last year at the museum and with friends, me now gonna tell you more about all the visits me had at the zoo! Because me visited some zoos multiple times, me will bundle them in one episode. So for this week, you can prepare yourself for LOADS of pictures we took in DierenPark Amersfoort, because we visited that zoo 11 times in 2019. Okay, we have a zoo subscription here, so we go many times. Me especially love this zoo, because if it not for the glass, you can almost cuddle with the animals. Me would not do that though! So… enjoy loads of pictures taken last year! (pictures by Berry de Nijs)

ZOO TIME with Aapie & Abu, Richie & Keith and Moo

ROAD TRIP! On April 30th 2019 Berry and me and our new familymember Moo went to the trainstation to pick up our friends and their humans! It was a BLAST! Aapie had brought his brother Abu too. Destination: Ouwehands Zoo in Rhenen. We really wanted to see the panda bears (and me wanted to see them again hihi) and just have fun together. So we had a great road trip talking, laughing, snacking, singing, eating, drinking, cuddling until we got to the zoo. (pictures by Berry de Nijs)

An awesome instameet in Artis

On May 27 me and Berry hopped on the train to Amsterdam to meet our sweet friends Tessa and Woody (of Richie and Keith the rebels) for some quality fun in the sun. We decided to go to Artis again. Me was a little nervous about that, because well… because of the last time me was there and that horrible eye accident (me told you about that in me previous post). But Berry promised me this time Artis would be only fun. And you know what… she was totally right!

I went to the zoo – a blog by Hope

I went on an adventurous assignment to the Fort Worth Zoo earlier in May. I had never been to a zoo before. It was a warm day and we had packed our lunch with peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches, ginger ale and some fruit and a package of Oreo cookies. I was hungry as soon as we arrived, but I’m always hungry. This zoo was founded in 1909 and when it opened it had a lion, 2 bear cubs, a peacock, an alligator, a rabbit and a coyote. It now has 435 species and does conservation work and is listed as a top zoo in the USA. It spans 64 acres.

Cookie & Coral at Dolfinarium

At the end of last year – during the Christmas holiday break – me, Berry, her nephews and supergran went to Dolfinarium. This is a zoo with only marinelife animals, like sealions, fish, walruses and such. We really love it there. It like a day at the sea. So me happy me could go again. It been a while you know. Well, first me thought it was just me going, but where on the highway me heard someone giggling from the backseat. And no, not the nephews. It came from Berry her bag. So me zipped it open and…

Cookie in Belize – sort of…

Hello dear readers. The year is almost over and although me love the winter time, me was shaking from the cold yesterday and today too. Boy, there was loads of icey water coming from the sky! On wintery days like this, me love to sit in me fave chair, get a cup of cocoa and a plate filled with nommy cookies (chocolate chippies, ofcourse) and look at pictures of the Summer. Let me take you with me on me little vacation trip to the warm Mangrove of… no, me did not fly to Belize, but it felt like being in Belize. Why? Well, because Burgers Zoo in Arnhem build a little piece of Belize, just in their own zoo.

It’s poisonous!

Me really love Berry her job, because she takes me everywhere! Even to an exhibition about… poison. Or better yet: VENOM. Yes. The exhibition in Dutch is called GIF! and can be seen at Naturalis in Leiden, the Netherlands. The exhibition was dedicated to the famous scientist (well he is very famous in the Netherlands) dr. Freek Vonk. He travels all around the world to look for animals and other natural phenomena’s and tells kids about them in a television show. He even got bitten by a shark! But he survived and has a huge scar to prove it all happened. Well... Berry took me and her youngest nephew on a traintrip to Leiden to meet Freek and to meet all these creepy crawlers and such who are indeed poisonous!

Cookie loves panda bears

You know me love going to the zoo, right? Well in the Netherlands we have lots of zoos. One even more special than the other. One of me fave zoos is Ouwehands Dierenpark, because they have this amazing bearforest and polar bears and penguins, gorillas and African elephants and… panda bears! They live here since this Spring and are called Wu Wen (the girl) and Xing Ya (the boy). Ofcourse me went to visit them. It a while ago though, but me wanted to show you anyways. It was amazing. These bears are so beautiful!

Me had a great time on Texel (again) this year. Me visited the seals at Ecomare again, but also for the first time went to Texel Zoo. Me gonna tell you about our great week on this Dutch island this week. Me hope you like it.

Meet Mackenzie, the brown bear from Ouwehands

Hey everybody. After the vacation blog madness me is back again with some other stuff. Boy o boy are we spoiled with a beautiful Indian Summer. It really was a heatwave out here. Me no mind though. It perfect weather to go outside. On September 2nd Berry took the day off so we could go to Ouwehands Dierenpark (Ouwehands Zoo) in Rhenen, the Netherlands. Me have been to that zoo before, and last year me told about in a blog called Have me told about… Ouwehands Dierenpark?. Me reserved a big part of that blog to talk about the Bear Forest. Me tell you this, because this time our visit was focussed on the Bear Forest too. You see… they just opened a new exhibit room and Berry wanted to blog about it on her website. Cookie Report from Bretagne – part IV: Fun at the Zoo

Bonjour friends and Cookie Report readers. Me still is writing about me vacation in Bretagne. You know one of Berry’s hobbies is going to the zoo and me always tags along to see all these amazing animals. During our vacation we went to Zoo de Pont-Scorff nearby Lorient. Get your trunk on for World Elephant Day

Everybody that know me, knows me love elephants. They are so beautiful and sweet. Me love how they find food with their trunks and uses very very low sounds (people no can hear them) to communicate with each other. When me visit a zoo with me best friend Berry, and there are elephants, we always pay them a visit. Me was there the day after little Madiba was born in Safaripark Beekse Bergen, a Dutch zoo with African elephants. And me always visit them at DierenPark Amersfoort where a group of Asian elephants live. Me love them. And that is why it makes me so mad – me even loose appetite for cookie – that there are people shooting elephants only for their tusks… (picture taken at DierenPark Amersfoort)

Fun in the sun at the Winter Dolfinarium

Me made a nice rhyme right. Well it is because me had a lot of fun in the sun at the Dolfinarium (dolphinarium) here in the Netherlands. Me like to visit and have blogged about it a lot over the years. Berry like to take me because she likes to share the experience with me. And… she uses me as bait. Me no mind though. Because when me sits near the glass at the underwater panorama me always get extra close to the dolphins and walruses. And they are so lovely! Me wish me could put on me wetsuit and swim with them.

Have me told about… Apenheul?

Me is back with another fun ‘Have me told about…?’ blog. Yes yes, me have to talk about me last visit at Apenheul of the season. Yes me went there to visit a baby orang-utan before Christmas, but me means the regular season. You must know that this Monkey and Apes zoo closes after Fall break. Most animals retreat to their warm indoor habitats during the colder autumn and winter days. The people of Apenheul uses the wintertime to rebuild or remodel the habitats so the animals have more or new things to climb in and play with. So… Berry and me wanted to say goodbye to the apes and monkeys of the zoo and went to Apenheul on October 30th. Almost at the end of Fall break.

Have me told about… Blijdorp?

Even me have to think about this one digging deep in me memory. It has been a while since me visited Blijdorp in Rotterdam last September. We went there just to relax after a Summer full of work. Well… Berry needed that more than me though. But me no did care, me love to go to a zoo. The Rotterdam Zoo of Blijdorp is a very, very big zoo with loads of gorgeous animals and habitats. Me took a picture with a penguin and saw this amazing Okapi! It happened on September 25th 2015. Me is not going to write much about it, just watch the pictures! Me will be back with more ‘Have me told about…’s after Christmas.

Happy Holidays!
