Crafting at Camp Hoop La Hoo Ray

Did you know us plushies go on Summer Camp every year? My sweet friend Hope has a camp site called Camp Hoop La Hoo Ray and we all go there have fun by the lake, eat delicious food, sing songs and tell stories by the camp fire, play sports and do Arts & Crafts. Me and lil Bamboo are the Arts & Crafts Camp Counselors and we do lots of fun projects. Me wanted to show you what we did at Camp this year. Maybe it fun for you to try some of these crafts too.

Having fun with crafting

Hope made this amazing camp kit with fun crafting ideas. Bamboo decided to make the bunting flag line at home and the little camp tent at Camp Hoop La Hoo Ray. It was so much fun and me love how delicious he made his little tent and flags look. We used it to decorate our Arts & Crafts tent. We even made an announcement sign (well, me made it cuz Bamboo no spell that well yet) for our friends so they knew the Arts & Crafts workshop program.

Upcycled Lanterns

Recycling and upcycling is something Bamboo loves very much. So when we had some empty glass jars (there used to be pizza sauce in them) Bamboo cleaned them and saved them for a great idea: make your own glass jar lantern. This is how you make it, and Bamboo is gonna explain it to you himself. Me so proud of me little buddy! Normally he is really shy, but he takes Arts & Crafts real seriously. Well... take it away Bamboo:

Hiii! The first one Is gonna stick rhinestonies on. You need rhinestonies and hot glue. Ask a human to help you cuz hot glue is nasty for your fur! Looksies! Is choses all kinds of colour rhinestonies but you can also pick just your fave colour. No worries about the glue yous can scratch it off later.

Is also put rhinestonies on the lid. Put in your battery candle and Tadaaaa it so pretty!

The second one Is put hot glue on the lid, pushed in some straw, added more glue and decorated with rhinestonies. If yous no want to use glue Is shows yous how to decorate with washi tape. Is have a lot!

Just choses your faves and roll them tightly over the jar. Is used watermelons, glittery pinks and 3 rainbows! Again put in the battery candle and close lid!

It sooo pretty!!! Now you make a lantern and show them. Maybe we can take them to the campfire and have a parade!
Love, Bamboo

And lots of our camping friends made beautiful glass jar lanterns! Also we DID take them to the campfire that night to sing with the ukulele. Bamboo loves singing the Lion sleeps tonight, so… A whim o whey a whim o whey…

Friendship Bracelets

The next they me taught a workshop how to make a friendship bracelet. Because going to camp sure helps to make lots of friends. And how do you remind each other of being friends? With a bracelet! Let’s make one! You need:
- cardboard
- 7 strands of yarn
- a marker
- scissors.

1. Draw a circle on the carboard, me used me Counselor Badge, but any circle will do.
2. Cut out the circle and draw 8 marks on it, space them evenly.
3. Make a cut on the marks to create slots.
4. Poke a hole in the middle with scissors or pencil.

5. Cut 7 strands of yarn, you can use any colour combination you like.
6. Tie a knot in one side of all 7 strands and pull the strands through the hole in the cardboard.
7. Place each strand of yarn in a slot, you will have 1 empty slot.
8. Take the 3rd strand from the empty slot and pull it over to the empty slot, in this case the yellow one, than count the next 3rd strand from the new empty slot and move it there. And so on and so on!

9. Look the rope is growing!!! Make sure to not strangle the yarn while weaving but also keep it a little tight. Are you done? Cut yarn, pull through the hole and make a tight knot.
10. Give the bracelet to someone you love. Me gave it to me sweety Bamboo.

More Camping pictures

Also we had lots of fun at camp. Me love snuggling with Bamboo in our sleeping bag (me always keep some cookies in there too). And Bamboo participated in the hide and seek challenge. He was easy to find if you followed the giggles. O and sweet lil Penny borrowed our phone and took a selfie before taking a nap in our yarn stash. Hihi, she so cute. The last day me decided to clean up. Our friends Foxy Toffee and Coco came to pick us up and had a blast playing tag with Bamboo all over the campsite. They want to join us next year too. Again THANK YOU HOPE for hosting such an amazing weekend. We had a blast.
