Cookie At the Museum part 4: De Mesdag Collectie

One of me fave museums in The Hague is De Mesdag Collectie (the Mesdag Collection). This museum is situated in the old museum and home of Hendrik Willem and Sientje Mesdag. They were really famous in their time. They collected AND made art. They held art parties and organised art exhibits. Their collection can be seen at this beautiful little museum! Also the museum hosts exhibitions that are related to the Mesdags. Last year me went twice to De Mesdag Collectie, one time for a workthingy and the second time with friends (you will read all about that on a Saturday). (pictures by Berry de Nijs)

Exhibit: Jean-François Millet & de Haagsche School
The School of The Hague (Haagsche School) is a collective of artists that lived in and around The Hague. They were friends and colleagues who also knew Hendrik Willem and Sientje Mesdag. Painting outside was something they all loved to do. They had Jean-François Millet as their source of inspiration. Millet was an artist who painted the outdoors and the people working on farms and such in a very rustic way. The exhibit combined works of the Dutch artists and Millet. It was gorgeous. These were some of me faves. ALSO: funny story, this exhibit preceded the one me already told about at the Van Gogh Museum. The sheepies at the Van Gogh Museum is the oil painting version of the pastel drawing here below. Cool huh. Also there are two paintings of the normal collection here.
