Cookie At the Museum part 7: the Year of Rembrandt

Did you know 2019 was the Year of Rembrandt? Well it was! And a lot of museums worked together to show the best of Rembrandt and different parts of his life. It was awesome. Berry and me tried to see as much as we could! And we did! Some of the exhibits me already talked about in previous At the Museum editions. But some museum we only visited once last year, so me decided to dedicate this At the Museum part to the one time visits we made for the Rembrandt Year. So… we went to Leeuwarden and Amsterdam for different exhibits, and me loved it! (pictures by Berry de Nijs)

Het Rembrandthuis February 8 & 28 2019

Exhibit: Friends & Family of Rembrandt
Okay, me saw this exhibit twice. Once with me Berry and the second time for an Instameet with Aapie, Richie and Keith (you can read all about that here). The first time was on February 8th. Me loved it! First you can look around in the ACTUAL HOUSE REMBRANDT HAD LIVED! Yes me had to scream that hihi. And after that we visited the exhibit about his family and friends.

Fries Museum February 15 2019

Exhibit: Saskia and Rembrandt
Rembrandt loved his wife Saskia very very much. She appeared in different paintings. Me discovered that the painting of Saskia me saw at the home of Rembrandt was a replica made by one of his students, because the real one was exhibited here at the Fries Museum. Saskia came from the province of Friesland, so this love letter of an exhibit here in Leeuwarden made perfectly sense. The exhibit also showed more about love, courting, having babies and marriage in the Golden Age. It was a beautiful exhibit.

Rijksmuseum February 19 2019

Exhibit: ALL Rembrandts
When the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam promises that they will display ALL the works of Rembrandt they have at the museum, then they will display EVERYTHING they have. Literally. The Rijksmuseum has a huge collection of drawings and etching art made by Rembrandt. Some were small like a stamp! But oh it was overwhelming and great. Also the paintings they have were at the exhibit wing. Except for the Nightwatch. We saw that one at the spot were it always is.
