Cookie At the Museum part 5: Joods Historisch Museum

In Amsterdam there is a museum dedicated to the Jewish History in the Netherlands. It is situated near City Hall at the Jewish Quarter. There is a temple, but also a kids museum with Dick Bruna art (you know him, he is nijntjes’ father) and… there are the stories about the Jewish community. Last year me visited the museum for work thingies of course, but it was also the first time. Berry heard of the museum thanks to the Rembrandt year – you will read more about that later in these series – and contacted them to get on the press relations list. And a few weeks later she got invited for the opening of an exhibit. So… we hopped on the train and enjoyed the first visit. We visited the museum twice and saw three different exhibits.

Exhibit: Kabbala, about Jewish mysticism in the art
This exhibit brought the history of Kabbala, a part of Jewish faith and mysticism, and artwork inspired by Kabbala together in a beautiful exhibit. Me really love mystics and the best part was, that some of the artists were there to tell us more about the great pieces they have made. It was truly inspiring!

Exhibits: Rembrandt’s Saint Peter kneeling & Amsterdam City of Diamonds
At our second visit we saw two exhibits! One was about Saint Peter kneeling by Rembrandt. The painting was analyzed in this expo. It was really very interesting and educational. The other exhibit we saw was about Amsterdam City of Diamonds. It was about the rise and fall of the Jewish Diamond industry in Amsterdam. Me thought some pieces were stunning and wondered how many cookies me could by with just one diamond… So Berry bought me cookies with money hihi.
