Me think Vincent van Gogh is a beautiful artist. Me love the colours he used in his paintings and his own, dreamy style of painting. Did you know he was really good in making selfies? Yes me know we do it all the time with the camera on our phones. But when Vincent was alive, you only could make a selfie by painting yourself. Hihi. But artists also painted portraits of their artist friends. And that is exactly why Berry took me on a work thingy to the Van Gogh Museum last February. (pictures by Berry de Nijs)

Cookie At the Museum part 13: Van Gogh Museum

Cookie At the Museum part 11: Rijksmuseum
In February Berry was asked to visit Caravaggio & Bernini at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam so she could write about it for a magazine. Guess who tagged along… hihi yes. Me, ofcourse. And wow it was amazing. Me love the Rijksmuseum, because it so big and they have real special exhibits. Like this one about two amazing Italian artists. They say without these two artists Rembrandt would never have been such a huge painter!(pictures by Berry de Nijs)

Cookie At the Museum part 7: the Year of Rembrandt
Did you know 2019 was the Year of Rembrandt? Well it was! And a lot of museums worked together to show the best of Rembrandt and different parts of his life. It was awesome. Berry and me tried to see as much as we could! And we did! Some of the exhibits me already talked about in previous At the Museum editions. But some museum we only visited once last year, so me decided to dedicate this At the Museum part to the one time visits we made for the Rembrandt Year. So… we went to Leeuwarden and Amsterdam for different exhibits, and me loved it! (pictures by Berry de Nijs)

Cookie At the Museum part 5: Joods Historisch Museum
In Amsterdam there is a museum dedicated to the Jewish History in the Netherlands. It is situated near City Hall at the Jewish Quarter. There is a temple, but also a kids museum with Dick Bruna art (you know him, he is nijntjes’ father) and… there are the stories about the Jewish community. Last year me visited the museum for work thingies of course, but it was also the first time. Berry heard of the museum thanks to the Rembrandt year – you will read more about that later in these series – and contacted them to get on the press relations list. And a few weeks later she got invited for the opening of an exhibit. So… we hopped on the train and enjoyed the first visit. We visited the museum twice and saw three different exhibits.

Cookie At the Museum part 2: Van Gogh Museum
One of the Dutch most famous painters worldwide is Vincent van Gogh. He was a really gifted genius with his own style. That is why he has his own museum in the Netherlands: the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. They have lots of paintings made by Vincent, but they also host exhibits featuring other artists that in one way or the other were inspired by Vincent. Me usually get to visit the popular museum on Berry her work thingy days when there is a new exhibit. Did you know visitors are not allowed to take photos at the Van Gogh Museum? That is why it is extra special that press people on work thingies are allowed to take pictures! It makes these visits even more special. (pictures by Berry de Nijs)

Out in Amsterdam with Richie, Keith and Aapie
Did you know there is a house in Amsterdam where the painter Rembrandt lived? It is a museum now, and it feels like the time has stood still there. Me visited it with me friends Richie and Keith on February 28th 2019. And it was the day me met Aapie for the first time too. It was an amazing day making a new friend and having fun at the museum. Oh and there was cake. Lots of it too!(pictures by Berry de Nijs)

Hello Dolly. Nice to meet you, Dolly
One of me sweet friends is a little Dinosaur called Dolly. So when ever me think of her, me think of the song Hello Dolly, by Louis Armstrong. We met for the first time in Amsterdam. And o boy she is adorable! It was around Christmas time, on December 18 2018, so we both got dressed up. Me even put a little Christmas tree on me head and Dolly was dressed up as Rudolph! Cool huh. First we met up for coffee and then… we went to see Cool Japan at the Tropen Museum in Amsterdam. (pictures by Berry de Nijs)

An awesome instameet in Artis

On May 27 me and Berry hopped on the train to Amsterdam to meet our sweet friends Tessa and Woody (of Richie and Keith the rebels) for some quality fun in the sun. We decided to go to Artis again. Me was a little nervous about that, because well… because of the last time me was there and that horrible eye accident (me told you about that in me previous post). But Berry promised me this time Artis would be only fun. And you know what… she was totally right!

Visiting Artis in January
Or… the story how me hurt me eye…This year me already have visited many zoos. In January Berry and me – well, mostly Berry – needed to clear her mind so we went to Artis in Amsterdam (it also known as Amsterdam Zoo). It was January 30 when we went. Although it was winter time, it surely felt like a spring day. Me was really excited to go to Artis, because me never been there before. The last time Berry was there she was just a little girl. So… it was about time to experience this zoo together.

Cookie & Coral meet Jaques & Jaqueline
After meeting up with Richie & Keith in January, our calender filled up with all kinds of cool instameets! On February 12 lil Coral and me went to Amsterdam to meet our sweet German friends Jaques, Jaqueline, Di-Lu, Peter and Ben – and their humom ofcourse! Coral was sooooo excited to see Di-Lu again! They are family you know. Coral was a gift from Jaques and Jaqueline to our family a few years ago. And me love her to pieces. But she really wanted to catch up with her family.
